I was looking for a life changing experience, an opportunity to make a difference to people’s life while I was in Maldives for my diving safari trip. This was how I stumbled upon an excellent organization, Volunteer Maldives.

Many thanks to Shakila, Michelle and Sameer for the seamless logistic right from the very start of the enquiry process to the end of the trip. I am always kept in the loop and stayed well informed and assured.

During the day, I will go to Roashanee Pre-Schoolas a teaching assistant. The children are most eager to learn new things, grabbing every opportunity they have so we can read a book, sing nursery rhymes and learn action games. You know they love and appreciate you when they want to share their snack box with you.

In my free time, I will join in activities in Roashanee Pre-School & Eco Youth to see what I can help out with. Activities include changing of the playground sand, planting and watering of plants and brick making. There is excellent community spirit from the young to the old. Everyone chips in to help, no effort is too little. The Maldivian people are so warm and caring. I was invited to lovely picnics, BBQ, snorkeling, evening walks around the island, birthday parties and meals in their houses. They have shown me what simple happiness means in this beautiful island.

I will highly recommend anyone who is reading this to step forward to volunteer when you have the chance to. You will be surprise at what you bring back from the experience.

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone in Volunteer Maldives & Naifaru for the memorable experience and friendship. God bless all of you and your families.
