In conjunction with the wonderful students from the University of Technology, Sydney, and their internal leadership group, BUiLD, an energetic and inspiring beach-cleaning operation took place near to Komandoo on the picnic island of Kuda Faru.

The school launched a poster competition for the kids to show their creative abilities and understanding about the need to protect their precious and beautiful environment.

The BUiLD students had the very difficult task of judging the posters, but there was a definite winner and the runners up posters were also fantastic!

Volunteer Maldives provided the prize trophies in the form of wooden leaping dolphins, and we had the three winning posters framed up and presented to the winners to keep in remembrance of their wonderful work!

To remind the locals and visitors to the island, to keep what Mother Nature provided as pristine, clean and safe for everyone to enjoy, the winning posters were made into a vivid, colourful beach sign, and made a permanent fixture on the beach.
