Testimonials

I was so excited when I heard I had been chosen out of 60 applicants to join our group to the Maldives. There were 14 of us and all had an amazing time in the most beautiful country in the world. We learnt so much about the island people and their way of life which you never get to know about by staying on a resort island as a mainstream tourist.

It was amazing to be able to help out in the classrooms with teaching English and Math and a couple of us as we are trained lifeguards helped out with swimming classes in the lagoon! Volunteer Maldives organized lots of recreational activities for us such as swimming and snorkeling on the most amazing reefs, and had picnics to deserted islands not forgetting the night fishing which is so much fun..they even arranged for us to do that 3 times we loved it so much!

We fell in love with Komandoo and the people straight away and didn’t want to leave. Definitely ranked one of the best experiences of my life I will never forget.

A new academic year welcomes new volunteers! The new academic year in the Maldives starts early January, and each year we have many requests from islands hoping to be able to host a volunteer for a month or two to help out in the schools and give the kids a huge boost! We've been very happy to welcome Amy, Kianna, Catherine and Doris this month! Thanks so much ladies!

2014 BUiLDERS descend on Maroshi ( All in good taste!)

Friday saw the arrival of this year's BUiLD group from UTS.. a big warm welcome was extended to Briana, Jenna, Khaulah, Nicki, Ryu and Frances as soon as they landed in Male', and a sweet welcome from the island children when the volunteers finally reached the island of Maroshi in the Shaviyani atoll, after a couple of days traveling from Australia.

The group will be kept very busy this year, and have been working on several presentations on excellent topics, and will this year again be involved with the Debating team offering support and encouragement to the school participants!
It will all be a great mix of work and play as usual ... full report to follow!
